The plaintiff, a former female employee in a retail store in Western Pennsylvania, alleged that she was terminated from employment due to age discrimination in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and in retaliation for making complaints of harassment in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The Honorable Arthur J. Schwab of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania granted the defendants' partial motion to dismiss and dismissed the age discrimination and retaliation claims against our clients.
Represented pediatrician sued for allegedly failing to properly consult with emergency room doctors at a local hospital, resulting in a life-threatening infection which caused significant, irreversible brain damage to the infant patient. The plaintiffs sought more than $38 million in damages. The defendant asserted the emergency department failed to inform him of key information which would have led to earlier and appropriate intervention. Jury unanimously found in favor of the pediatrician.
