
Professional Experience:
Michael Adler focuses his practice on the representation of publicly-traded and privately-held corporations, developers and property and financial management companies in complex commercial and litigation matters, including insurance, real estate, transactional issues and class action defense issues.
He is a Trustee of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation (currently Chair of the Grants Committee), Vice President of the Board of Directors of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El and the Immediate Past President of the Temple Law Alumni Association. He is an active member of the Temple American Inn of Court, the International Visitor's Council of Philadelphia and the Rutgers Club of Greater Philadelphia. He was recently elected a Committeeman in Lower Merion Township and is active in local, state and national politics. He is a member of the Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association and served as the Financial Secretary of the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
He handles numerous pro bono matters on behalf of the Society Created to Reduce Urban Blight (SCRUB), Support Center for Child Advocates and Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. He recently was selected by his peers in the Pennsylvania Law Weekly and the Legal Intelligencer as a "Lawyer on the Fast Track". Mr. Adler has received a BV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. In 2005, 2006 and 2011, he was recognized by the publisher of the Pennsylvania edition of Super Lawyers magazine as a Rising Star, an honor given to the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in the Commonwealth who are 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less.
Some of his significant achievements include:
• Obtained $2.6 million jury verdict in a two-week trial in New York City in a breach of contract / fraud case against computer consulting placement corporation, its purported successor corporation, and the individual principals of the companies.
• Negotiated favorable settlement immediately before jury deliberations of developer of property involved in a building collapse of neighboring properties and destruction of deli business, while obtaining substantial recovery of client's exposure and fees in concurrent negligence lawsuit against developer's insurance broker.
• Successfully represented major developer on significant zoning and land use issues through successful appeals to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
• Immediately prior to plaintiff's closing argument, obtained major lump sum settlement for minority shareholder in action against partners of a retail chain of hospital gift shops for breach of fiduciary duty, oppression of minority shareholder, civil conspiracy, unjust enrichment and breach of contract.
• Negotiated and drafted numerous vendor, employment and other consulting contracts, and oversaw franchise applications, while serving as general counsel for full-service communications provider with a wholly owned property management subsidiary. This entity delivered cable TV, IPTV, high-speed internet, full-featured telephone and VoIP service, home automation, and residential security systems services throughout the East Coast.
