Professional Experience:
With extensive experience representing corporations, insurers and health care providers, Mr. Stapleton concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, professional malpractice and liability litigation. Throughout the years, his statewide practice has enabled him to appear in the Courts of Common Pleas of over 25 different counties, the Superior and Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania, as well as federal courts in five states.
Mr. Stapleton began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, and chaired the bankruptcy department of Rawle & Henderson prior to joining the firm. A former candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, he is presently serving his third term as a member of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. In January 2007, Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell appointed Mr. Stapleton as Board Chairman. Mr. Stapleton also is Director of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association. He is a founder and director of Enterprise Bank of Allison Park, Pennsylvania and a founder of Keystone Weekend, an annual conference of Pennsylvania leaders representing a variety of disciplines including business, government, education, and the arts.
Mr. Stapleton has represented both creditors and debtors in Chapter 11 and 7 cases. Mr. Stapleton has also represented banks in collecting distressed debt as well as litigated against borrowers for fraud and breach of contract.
Mr. Stapleton has been recognized by the publisher of the Pennsylvania edition of Super Lawyers magazine as being among the top 5 percent of practitioners in his practice specialty within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
