January 29, 2007 : Pittsburgh Partners Obtain Pair of Defense Verdicts

David J. Rosenberg, a partner in the Firm's Pittsburgh office, obtained a defense verdict on behalf of homeowners in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on January 17, 2007.  The plaintiff was cat-sitting for the defendants when they were out of town.  When leaving their house one day, the plaintiff fell while walking down the porch step and suffered a serious injury, shattering her shoulder.  This resulted in the need for an artificial joint and steel rod.  After just 30 minutes of deliberation, the jury found no liability on the defendants.

Paula A. Koczan, another Pittsburgh-based partner, successfully defended an obstetrician/gynecologist in a trial concluding on January 23, 2007.  In that case, the plaintiff was diagnosed with breast cancer and alleged the diagnosis was missed by the ob/gyn.  The jury deliberated for an hour and a half before rendering a defense verdict.
