February 23, 2010 : Richard S. Ranieri to be Panelist at NJICLE Discovery Seminar
Partner Richard S. Ranieri will serve as a panelist at an upcoming New Jersey continuing legal education seminar on discovery issues. The event, titled "Not Just Another Civil Discovery Workshop!" will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2010 in New Brunswick. The event is sponsored by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Discovery is an essential part of every case, and is often the most important part of the litigation process. Arguably, cases are won or lost during the discovery phase. The scope of written and oral discovery available under the New Jersey Court Rules and case law is extremely broad and can be effectively (and sometime abusively) utilized in all types of civil cases. Litigators routinely ignore, avoid, and fail to conform to discovery requests and practice obstructionist tactics in all forms of discovery, while pushing the boundaries of discovery that they seek. There is often a thin line between permissible and harrassive discovery. These aspects of discovery will be candidly explored by experienced attorneys from different perspectives and varied substantive practice areas. They will do this through brief presentations, and interactive and proactive questioning by Kenneth S. Javerbuam, Esq., an experienced and engaging moderator. The judicial perspective will be provided by one of New Jersey’s most highly regarded trial judges. Make plans to attend this thorough and productive new workshop on civil discovery today. You’ll also walk away with strategies and important information that can be put to work right away in your practice. The program will include: • The importance and timing of discovery Course and registration information is available at the NJICLE website.
