May 26, 2010 : Laura E. Stegossi to Lead CLE on Probate and Trust Issues
Partner Laura E. Stegossi is among the course planners for a continuing legal education seminar sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on June 8, 2010. The course, titled "Closing In on Closely Held Business Owners," is part of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Probate and Trust Section's Quarterly Meeting.
The transfer of a closely held business presents special issues for clients who own these interests and for the attorneys who advise them. This program will focus on lifetime and testamentary planning options that lawyers should consider when advising clients desiring to transfer their closely held business interests.
In this seminar, the panel will specifically discuss and offer advice to probate and estate practitioners on the following:
* Techniques for transferring closely held business interests through recaptialization and gifting programs
* Points to consider when reviewing a valuation of a closely held business
* The essential points of a buy-sell agreement and its coordination with the business owner`s estate plan
The faculty will also highlight legislative changes to the tax code that impact the industry.
