While the firm was founded in 1991 to serve the needs of our workers’ compensation clients throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey, our attorneys have decades of experience representing its clients creatively, aggressively, successfully and cost-consciously. We maintain eight regional offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, and our attorneys have handled all types of claims and petitions, from the judge level to the United States Supreme Court. Most importantly, our firm’s unique program of individualized small seminars, tailored and presented to each client for their particular industry, provides the most up-to-date information for winning cases and effective strategies for maximum exposure reduction.
Indeed, the partners and associates in the Workers’ Compensation practice group are among the most experienced and longest practicing workers’ compensation attorneys in this region, and include pre-eminent authorities in the field who have held positions of leadership over many years. From co-authoring the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Practice and Procedure Manual, to presenting the official courses which teach other lawyers how to practice in this field, to leadership in legislative reform and think-tank efforts, our partners have always been at the cutting edge of scholarship and exposure-reduction efforts.
In New Jersey, the Firm has partners who are certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as Workers’ Compensation Law Attorneys. Our partners serve as members of the New Jersey Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Executive Committee and speak regularly for Lorman Education Services on New Jersey Workers’ Compensation issues. The Firm is at the forefront of legislative reform efforts in New Jersey and our attorneys have been called to testify before the Senate Labor Committee. A number of our attorneys in New Jersey are active Members of the Inns of Court. Our entire Workers’ Compensation practice group prides itself on having devised and implemented return-to-work programs for large employers, having created exclusive exposure reduction strategies in catastrophic injury cases and having managed professional overhead to maintain competitive and creative fee structures while adhering to client billing and payment guidelines.
Our client list includes a diverse base of Fortune 500 and 100 companies along with more than 400 insurers, self-insureds and third-party administrators. We have particular expertise with complex workers’ compensation matters in a variety of industries in both the union and non-union setting. The Workers' Compensation practice group also publishes a quarterly digest of recent Pennsylvania judicial opinions on issues of interest to insurance professionals, available by email or on this website. We also provide an annual update to clients on New Jersey case law and statutory changes as well as periodic updates during the year with significant developments.
Our multi-state workers’ compensation practice group is chaired by Paul M. Fires, who can be reached at 215.972.7904 or pfires@wglaw.com and Jeffrey D. Newby, who can be reached at 856.667.5804 or jnewby@wglaw.com. David G. Greene serves as Vice-Chair and can be reached at 215.972.7910 or dgreene@wglaw.com.
