Jane Kelsey defends healthcare providers, from individual physicians to hospital systems, in the defense of malpractice matters. In addition, she also represents insurers in coverage matters and related litigation.
Jane has extensive experience defending physicians, hospital systems, nurses and other allied health professionals in medical and professional malpractice matters. She also represents clinical laboratories in professional negligence, product liability and general liability matters. As a certified civil trial attorney, she has significant experience trying cases which involve complex medical issues and catastrophic injuries. She has also successfully argued cases in the New Jersey Appellate Division and before the New Jersey Supreme Court. In addition to her malpractice defense experience, Jane also represents individual healthcare providers in administrative licensure matters and her practice includes regulatory and compliance counseling in HIPAA privacy matters.
Jane’s practice also includes representation of insurers in coverage disputes and declaratory judgment actions. She also has experience as monitoring counsel with respect to a wide variety of coverage issues pertaining to D&O, E&O, EPL and CGL policies.
Jane has also been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America since 2008. She has been recognized by the publishers of New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine, in the field of Medical Malpractice Law-Defense since 2005. The Super Lawyers list is issued by Thomson Reuters. Jane was honored in 2017 by the Mayor of Warren Township for Outstanding Service to the Community, as a volunteer EMT. She has been an EMT for 12 years and served as Acting Chief during hurricanes Sandy and Irene.
Successful defense of a nursing home in a wrongful death matter alleging negligence in the care and treatment of decubitus ulcers.
Successful representation of a clinical laboratory in a case involving the alleged delay in communicating the results of laboratory testing.
Successful defense of a hospital system in which it was alleged that a hospital radiologist mis-read a mammogram resulting in a delay in diagnosing breast cancer.
