In partnership with his clients, Mark employs comprehensive legal strategies to defend workers’ compensation claims and reduce exposure risk. Mark works extensively with small and large companies, third-parties administrators, insurance carriers, and self-insured businesses of all types including those within the transportation and courier industries.
Before joining Weber Gallagher, Mark served as an in-house counsel for a large insurance company. In this role, Mark was responsible for managing the workers’ compensation department working closely with policy holders and the insurance adjusters who were responsible for administering claims.
Mark is currently the Immediate Past Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Workers’ Compensation Section, executive committee. This committee is dedicated to monitoring, studying and, when necessary, addressing legislation and procedural rules and policies to ensure that the workers’ compensation laws are properly applied in all administration workers’ compensation claims, in the interest of both employees and their employers.
As an experienced practitioner, Mark has appeared before all workers’ compensation district courts in New Jersey, and handled appeals before the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Mark is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Workers’ Compensation Law Attorney; and, is a Fellow in The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, a nationwide organization that honors workers’ compensation practitioners, educators, and judges nationwide. Mark has achieved a Distinguished Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. This is given to attorneys who has experience and is widely respected by their peers for their professional achievement and ethical standards. Successfully defended large exposure claim of an individual that became totally disabled as a result of a fall from a ladder, on grounds of independent contractor relationship with the alleged employer/insured. Order was entered finding the individual working as an independent contractor, and thus not entitled to workers’ compensation benefits from the alleged employer. Successfully defended an alleged total disability claim involving multiple respondent employers. Petitioner was a young individual who had undergone back surgeries and suffered from failed back syndrome. Approved for Social Security Disability. Claim against insured was dismissed on grounds of no exposure to cause injury or disability during his employment with the insured.
