Which Physicians in Pennsylvania May Prescribe Medical Marijuana

11.30.17

The Pennsylvania Department of Health this month released the list of physicians who have been approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to prescribe medical marijuana. There are now more than 100 physicians in Pennsylvania who have completed training and are able to issue certifications to patients who have conditions that qualify for the prescription. Other doctors have registered and are waiting for approval.

Here is the link to check if a doctor is on the list.

The medical conditions that qualify under the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act at this time include but are not limited to cancer, autism, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder. If an employee is seeking medical marijuana as part of a treatment plan while receiving workers' compensation benefits, you should make sure it is being prescribed by a physician approved by the Commonwealth to issue such prescriptions. If you have questions, contact our Workers' Compensation Group.
