New Jersey Workers' Compensation Alert

In accordance with the Executive Orders issued by Governor Murphy to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the New Jersey Division of Workers' Compensation has now extended the closure of the workers' compensation courts to the public until further notice. The designation "until further notice" differs from previous announcements from the Division that listed a specific date for the reopening of the Courts.  Since the original closure of the courts, all 43 full-time Judges of Compensation have returned to hear cases by telephonic and video conferencing. No further information has been provided on those Judges on recall assignment who have not been activated. It continues to be the Court's practice that no in-person proceedings will take place with attorneys and claimants, except for a few ongoing trials as needed and critical motions for medical and temporary benefits. Those proceedings will adhere to social distancing protocols and the wearing of masks.  All filing of documents must be submitted electronically through COURTS On-line, and to the assigned Judge by email as necessary.
