Pittsburgh, PA – March 14, 2016 – Weber Gallagher Partner Renee M. Porada Frazier spoke at the American Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Midwinter Seminar and Conference in New Orleans this weekend on “Ethical Considerations in Medicare Set Asides.” The panel covered the ethical aspects of settlement of workers’ compensation claims in light of the obligation to consider Medicare’s interests and the impact it has on the client.

The program was put on by the ABA’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS), which is a resource of knowledge and leadership on trial practice and justice issues in tort and insurance law. TIPS members include defense, plaintiffs, corporate and in-house counsel.

In her practice, Porada Frazier defends employers and their carriers and third-party administrators against workers’ compensation claims. She helped develop the firm’s Medicare Set-Aside Practice.  Porada Frazier takes a legal approach to preparing set-aside analyses and obtaining Medicare approval of set-asides. She also analyzes conditional payments with the goal of gaining reductions in the Medicare liens.
