Philadelphia, June 9, 2022 — June J. Essis, Weber Gallagher partner, has been elected by members of the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel (PADC) as the organization’s new President for the 2022-2023 year. Essis previously served as PADC’s Vice President of Operations.
As the newly elected sixth female PADC president, Essis will oversee the operations of the 75-year-old organization composed of over 300 defense lawyers from Philadelphia and its surrounding counties who practice in tort and insurance law.
The PADC is a highly effective and well-respected defense advocacy group formed in 1937 to advance the interests of the defense bar. The organization promotes community involvement, legislative and judicial reform, court improvements and professional and social support for its members.

Based in Weber Gallagher’s Philadelphia office, Essis has an extensive background representing corporations, insurers, and insureds in defense of their claims in Federal and State Courts in Pennsylvania. She has a wealth of experience representing trucking companies and truck drivers in accident-related claims alleging personal injury, catastrophic loss, and property damage. Essis has represented various entities/corporations in commercial litigation and has defended numerous insurers in property and casualty related claims. Throughout her career, she has also represented a liftgate manufacturer in matters alleging product defect resulting in injury.
Essis has co-authored many articles and is a frequent lecturer on many issues relating to the defense bar. She has spoken on numerous occasions to various national defense organizations on a variety of topics including those relating to the trucking industry. Essis has worked tirelessly to help change the public’s perception that trucks are dangerous and trucking companies engage in unsafe practices.
