Weber Gallagher Launches Firm Podcast ‘The Risk Roundtable’

Philadelphia, Jan. 19, 2023 — Today Weber Gallagher launches ‘The Risk Roundtable,’ a podcast tailored specifically for risk managers, GCs, adjusters, and other professionals in the insurance industry. The inaugural episode, “Pre-Existing Conditions and Abdullah Credits in New Jersey Workers' Compensation,” featuring Weber Gallagher Workers’ Compensation partners Jennifer G. Laver and Vanessa Mendelewski, can be found here.

The Risk Roundtable covers interesting hot topics and changes in the law that may impact insurance clients throughout the industry. This podcast provides claims and litigation management professionals an opportunity to learn strategies to mitigate risk and improve their business’ bottom line.

Each episode is hosted by Weber Gallagher attorneys from different areas of expertise across the firm. This series delivers leading industry insights from our lawyers regarding professional liability, insurance coverage, employment, workers’ compensation, general liability and more.

In the first episode, Laver and Mendelewski discuss Abdullah Credits and best practices for employers when they are seeking credit for existing injuries. They also review the process of actually securing credit, how to obtain medical evidence, the investigation process, and how Section 20 settlements can come into play when seeing these credits.

Laver counsels a range of national and regional clients in all types of New Jersey workers’ compensation matters. She works with her clients in not only the litigation of matters but assisting to reduce claim frequency and exposure risk.

Mendelewski defends insurance companies, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators in New Jersey workers’ compensation matters. She has worked with hospitals, nursing homes, staffing agencies, retailers, and construction entities in workers’ compensation claims.
