Philadelphia, June 15, 2023 – June Essis, Commercial Transportation Co-Managing Partner, was honored with three awards recognizing her outstanding contributions and leadership in the legal profession by the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel (PADC) and the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
From PADC, Essis received the President's Award and the William J. O'Brien Distinguished Service Award. As the President of PADC over the past year, Essis demonstrated remarkable leadership and dedication to serving her community. These accolades acknowledge Essis' leadership and recognize her commitment to providing excellent representation to clients from case inception to resolution. PADC is the oldest continuously operating local defense organization in the United States, consisting of more than 350 attorneys who advocate for their members and clients on emerging legal issues.
The Defense Research Institute (DRI) also honored June Essis with the Exceptional Performance Award. This annual award acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to the standards and education of the defense bar, as well as improvements to the administration of justice in the public interest. DRI is the largest international membership organization of attorneys specializing in civil litigation.
In her legal practice, Essis represents corporations, insurers, and insureds in defense of their claims. She has a wealth of experience representing trucking companies and truck drivers in accident-related claims alleging personal injury, catastrophic loss, and property damage.
Beyond her practice, Essis is dedicated to serving her community. She previously held the position of Vice President of Operations on the Executive Committee of PADC. Additionally, from 2016 to 2019, she served as a National Director on the Board of Directors for DRI and held the position of Immediate Past Chair on the DRI Board of Directors Membership Committee in 2020. Furthermore, Essis chaired the SLC's/CLE's for the 2020 DRI Annual Conference and was the Chair of the DRI Trucking Committee in 2016, remaining an active member of the steering committee for over 20 years. She also actively participates in organizations such as PDI, TIDA, and TLA, where she has delivered speeches at various conferences and contributed articles to their publications.
June is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, and she was the recipient of the International Trial Lawyers Association Award for Outstanding Trial Advocacy.
