Paul Fires Presents the Legal Intelligencer CLE “The Interplay of Workers’ Compensation and Tort Actions”

Paul Fires, Co-Chair of the Workers' Compensation Group, presented "The Interplay of Workers' Compensation and Tort Actions: Defense Strategies and Lien Enforcement in Direct Actions Against Employers and Affiliate Corporations" at the Legal Intelligencer's In-House Counsel CLE Seminar on March 13th.

Fires discussed direct civil actions against corporate parents; subrogation liens for self-insured employers; contractual indemnification for claims brought by vendor employees; and steps that should be taken for each case. More than 100 corporate counsel attended the presentation.

Fires serves as Firm Managing Partner at Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby LLP. He provides risk management and litigation counseling to larger corporations, insurance companies and third party administrators in the areas of workers compensation, general liability, products liability, premises liability and subrogation. His practice also includes pre-litigation counseling with an emphasis on cost-effective exposure reduction strategies, and coordination of corporate workers' compensation policies for clients with exposure nationally. Fires also advises larger corporations on settlements and resolutions.
