07.05.23

Philadelphia, July 5, 2023 – Family law partner, Lawrence J. "Skip" Persick has been honored as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). This distinction recognizes Persick's unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards in the field of matrimonial practice. Through their collective efforts, the Fellows of the Academy have significantly elevated the quality of family law practice across the nation, benefiting both attorneys and litigants.

Within his legal practice, Persick specializes in a wide range of areas, including adoption, divorce, custody, support, dependency, and guardianship. His experience encompasses cases involving school discipline and the termination of parental rights.

Notably, Persick has secured favorable outcomes in several significant cases. He has represented the prevailing party in many notable cases including a Berks County decision granting compensatory and punitive damages on tort claims raised in the context of a divorce action. The case is believed to be one of the few decisions, if not the only one, granting this relief.

In a case that received national attention, Skip represented the Chester County Department of Children, Youth and Families in state court proceedings relative to the placement of an African- American child for adoption with an African-American family over the objections and collateral lawsuits of a white foster family.

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) holds a prominent position in Family Law. It serves as a leader in providing comprehensive continuing education, publications, networking opportunities, and training for professionals in the field. Since its establishment in 1962, the AAML has functioned as a nonprofit association, comprising experienced Family Lawyers who concentrate their expertise on all aspects related to marriage, divorce, child custody and visitation, annulment, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, matters affecting unmarried cohabitants, business valuation and property distribution, alimony, and support.
