PJ began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia. He served as a member of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for 14 years. In January 2007, Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell appointed PJ as Board Chairman, a position he held for over four years. PJ is a past Chairman of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association and was a member of the National Advisory Board of The Century Council which is a distilled spirits industry group committed to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking. PJ also serves as an expert consultant and witness in cases involving adult beverage licensing issues on applications of state and federal statutes.
PJ has been recognized by the publisher of the Pennsylvania edition of Super Lawyers magazine as being among the top 5 percent of practitioners in his practice specialty within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 2011, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts named PJ its Jefferson Award Honoree.
