Jacey Kaps focuses his practice on general liability and casualty matters for clients in the retail, restaurant, hospitality, auto, trucking, and service industries. He defends high‑exposure claims involving premises liability, negligent security, and other complex tort actions, approaching every matter with an emphasis on practical risk assessment, efficient case management, and solutions aligned with business objectives.

He works closely with in‑house counsel, risk professionals, and operations teams to manage litigation across multiple jurisdictions and develop strategies that reduce exposure and streamline claims handling. He also handles insurance coverage matters and supports carriers with first‑party claims, drawing on his extensive experience managing high‑volume litigation as both national and regional counsel. His experience managing significant volumes of litigation helps him anticipate challenges and maintain a steady, results‑focused approach to matters that require both precision and efficiency.

Jacey represents clients in commercial and transactional disputes, construction disputes, environmental and mass tort, Medicare compliance, employment matters, civil rights matters, and casualty litigation. He also advises retail, restaurant, lodging, and service businesses on comprehensive litigation management programs and develops alternative dispute resolution strategies designed to resolve disputes effectively while minimizing operational disruption.

In addition to his general liability practice, Jacey has experience counseling clients on cybersecurity risks, privacy compliance, data‑incident readiness, and artificial intelligence governance. He has guided businesses through regulatory investigations, security assessments, and privacy‑related operational considerations. These capabilities complement his liability defense work by providing clients with broader, integrated insight into both operational and digital risk. He also holds the respected CIPP/US credential, demonstrating additional technical knowledge in areas involving regulatory compliance and data‑related risk.

Jacey has been repeatedly recognized for excellence in the defense of personal injury and liability claims. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants from 2013 through 2026, reflecting longstanding peer acknowledgment of his capabilities in complex tort defense. Jacey has an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell. He has been twice commended by the Florida Supreme Court for his service to the Guardian Ad Litem Program.

Jacey frequently writes and presents on litigation strategy, claims management, the intersection of AI, data, and liability, and emerging risk trends affecting businesses and is a well-respected thought-leader in the industry. His articles and presentations address topics ranging from claims handling and settlement strategies to legal implications of new technologies and evolving business practices. He contributes to national programs, insurance‑focused seminars, and industry associations.
