Jim Desmond is a seasoned litigator specializing in the defense of high-exposure and complex litigation matters. He represents Fortune 500 companies, global insurers, syndicates, and corporate executives in disputes involving construction accidents, product liability, insurance coverage, environmental and toxic torts, and commercial litigation. Clients rely on Jim for strategic counsel on litigation, risk management, and dispute resolution.
Before entering private practice, Jim served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted high-profile felony and misdemeanor cases. He also gained significant litigation experience as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Special Federal Litigation Division of the New York City Law Department, defending the City of New York and NYPD members against civil rights and constitutional law claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
During law school, Jim served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Richard F. Suhrheinrich of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and was the case notes editor for the Michigan State University Journal of Medicine and Law.
Jim is actively involved in the Villanova University Alumni Association and has served as an arbitrator for the Civil Court of the City of New York and as a mentor with Legal Outreach.
