Paul M. Fires

Firm Chair Emeritus & Workers’ Compensation Co-Managing Partner
Philadelphia
2000 Market Street
Suite 1300
Philadelphia, PA 19103

A recognized leader, litigator, innovator and financial modeler, Paul Fires maintains deep roots within multi-decade relationships across a variety of regional, national, and internationally based clients. Among the first lawyers to bring a holistic, metric skill set to client advising across a diverse set of caseloads, Paul combines his exceptional knowledge of the litigation playing field with an essential understanding of reserving and overall litigation financial goals.

Paul’s experience as a litigator, business owner, and 11-year Chair of his mid-sized regional law firm gave him practical perspective into case management and handling, honed his advising skills, and polished both his trial strategies and courtroom effectiveness. His people skills, which are a natural outgrowth of running his law firm, have amplified his ability to promote productive relationships among carrier, third party administrator, employer, and broker, to the mutual advantage of each.

Uniquely, Paul can evaluate cases from dozens of metric perspectives. These methods bring results that satisfy each client’s individual case and overarching financial goals, while never overlooking the human resources aspect of each matter.

Paul’s experience is of particular note in the following areas: Insurance and Risk Management, Trucking Transportation and Logistics, Heavy and Light Manufacturing, Food Production, Hospitals and Health Care, Heavy and Light Construction, Universities and Education, Retail and Hospitality, Entertainment, Charitable Foundations, and Nonprofit Organizations.

In recognition of his skills as a litigator and as a leader in his field, Paul has been named the US News and World Report/Best Lawyers® Philadelphia Lawyer of the Year for Workers’ Compensation – Employers, 2022. He also received this honor in 2020 and 2014. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of Workers’ Compensation – Employers every year since 2007. Since 2009, Paul has been included in the Pennsylvania Edition of Super Lawyers Magazine, an honor given to the top 5% of attorneys in the state. Paul was named “2019 Best Law Firm Mentor” by The Legal Intelligencer. In his career, Paul has mentored scores of associates and partners from all corners and practices at Weber Gallagher.

Paul also serves as an expert consultant and witness in cases involving Errors and Omissions insurance policies. He has analyzed voluminous file materials and prepared comprehensive analysis and reports, and has provided expert testimony when needed in support of his clients’ positions.

Among many aspects of his community service, Paul was selected to join the Penn Medicine Council for Discovery Science. This prestigious Board is comprised of University of Pennsylvania scientists and inventors, nationally influential business leaders, and capital funding specialists from a cross-section of American life. These individuals work together to nurture and develop breakthrough medical technologies designed to improve the health and life of human beings worldwide.

Paul served as Firm Chair from 2008 until 2018 and currently serves as Firm Chair Emeritus, while never relinquishing his role as lawyer and practitioner.
