Teresa C. Finnegan

Teresa Finnegan represents healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and midwives, in medical malpractice matters and licensing board proceedings. She also advises and defends medical groups and hospitals in claims involving negligence, malpractice, and related issues. Teresa works closely with clients to prepare for depositions and partners with expert witnesses to develop thorough and effective reports and defense strategies.

Teresa’s background includes experience in civil litigation, with a strong focus on medical malpractice and insurance defense. She has represented healthcare professionals and institutions in complex matters involving detailed medical records, expert discovery, and high‑exposure claims. Her experience includes preparing and responding to written discovery, taking and defending depositions of parties and expert witnesses, drafting dispositive and appellate motions, and supporting all phases of trial preparation.

Following law school, Teresa served as a law clerk to the Hon. James Den Uyl of the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil Division. In that role, she researched and drafted memoranda on a wide range of issues, including medical malpractice, insurance law, personal injury, and procedural matters, and assisted with motion practice and oral argument preparation. Her clerkship provided valuable insight into judicial decision‑making and strengthened her analytical and writing skills, which continue to inform her approach to defending healthcare professionals and organizations.

During law school, Teresa was actively involved in advocacy and legal scholarship. She served as a member of the Hunter Moot Court and as a Notes Editor for the Journal of Law and Public Policy. She also worked as a teaching assistant for legal research and writing, further reinforcing her commitment to precision, clarity, and effective advocacy.
